History
We are building Pipehaul from Aug, 2019. The premise was to address a market which was bereft of organised logisitical support. Studying logistical gaps across supply chain.
We picked produce markets to be our first commodity category as it provided us an opportunity to serve the customers across the supply chain in a better manner. We launched our first produce store by Aug, 2020, Subjimadi. Since then we have moved about 800-1000 Tons of produce via our partner network.
This partner network comprised of local labour, driver-truck fleet operators, transporters, multi national shippers and traders of produce markets. We have enumerable stories about navigating the challenges to ensure steady stream of service provision to Subjimadi.
Thesis
Supply chain is a counter intuitive term, it fails to capture the complexities involved in a supply chain. The wold of commerce is powered by supply chains.
Amazon has its biggest moat in e-commerce because of its supply chain logistics. It is also one of the reasons that 53% of goods sold on Amazon.com are from 3rd party marketplace.
In the past, logistics was always service based. Logistics firms catered to specific needs of their customers, brokerages managed the customer relationships and sub-contracted the actual movement of goods to multiple service providers.
While the innovation is ripe in the space of fulfilment logistics serving e-commerce merchants with digital access to logistics services. We are looking to provide a digital space for commodity markets.
Status Update
- While providing logistics access to our buyers and suppliers of Subjimandi. We have worked on optimising the costs of first Mile, long-haul and distribution logistics.
- We have been successful in optimising Long-haul logistics by providing backward loads and bundling commodities.
Opportunity
Our presence is across Maharastra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. These are also the regions where Subjimandi operates. We are now looking to expand our market approach to wider network across the South India.
We want to extend our operational capabilities within produce markets to more commodities. While, adding other bulk commodities, like cement, Steel, copper, wood and stone.
And, we want to work with people within and outside the industry who want to remap and rework how these markets work. We would like to merge the un-organised and organsied logistics in these commodities by creating a market to address their supply chain logistics.
